Help us achieve our aims!

We are recruiting more session-leaders!

Do you have a passion for leading singing groups? Are you committed to community singing and music-making or wanting to develop your skills in this area? Do you want to make a difference for many people within our communities including carers and the cared-for?

We are looking to expand their team of Singing for Health Practitioners, working with a broad cross-section of people within our local communities. Whilst song-leading and musicianship are key skills, the focus is on personality, inclusivity, the willingness to have fun with colleagues and participants and ambitions to share the joy of singing and music-making with all ages and abilities. Sounds good? Get in touch!

The immediate areas we’re looking to cover are North Walsham and Sheringham but other opportunities across the district are possible. Session-leaders will be self-employed with pay negotiable plus mileage etc. For the right person there may be opportunities for professional development and specialist training. For more information about these roles contact us!

Become a Singing for Breathing Session-Leader

Are you a singing/music teacher or community choir leader? Would you like to help us expand our vital Singing for Breathing/Lung Health services?

Thanks to funds raised via an Awards for All (National Lottery) grant and participants’ donations, we are specifically looking for someone to join our small, committed and dedicated team to lead ‘Singing for Breathing‘ sessions in North Norfolk. These sessions are closely linked to principles taught on Pulmonary Rehabilitation Courses so training under the Singing for Lung Health national programme is essential (for which Asthma+LungUK bursaries are available). If you’re interested in finding out more, get in touch!

Role Description:
This is a part-time, paid, on-site role for a self-employed Singing for Breathing Session Leader. If not already qualified, you will be required to undertake Singing for Lung Health training (for which bursaries are available through Asthma + Lung UK). All our Singing for Breathing sessions are affiliated with A+L UK.

The Singing for Breathing Session Leader will be responsible for planning and leading singing sessions for individuals with breathing difficulties. The main aims of the sessions are to help people manage their conditions, increase physical exercise, adopt better breathing habits for improved health and qualities of life and broaden their social and peer-support networks.

The role involves working with small groups and helping clients to improve their breathing through tailored singing exercises. You will be working across sites in North Norfolk (primarily Sheringham and North Walsham). More information about our current Singing for Breathing groups and services can be found here.

Qualifications:
– A passion for singing and music-making with others
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Experience in leading group singing
– Leadership and organisational skills
– An understanding of the impact of breathing difficulties on individuals
– Ability to work effectively and supportively within a small, supportive and dedicated team

Relevant qualifications in music, singing, or health care are desirable but not essential. This is very much about having the right personality and the dedication to help us continue expanding these important services.

Interested in volunteering?
